…that you can buy right now.
Summer makeup had me feeling some sort of way this year. I was all about the neons, the brights, the fun! But I’m definitely welcoming fall at this point. In the past, for me, fall eye shadow palettes have typically been deep browns, oranges, reds, and basically all of the warm neutrals. Don’t get me wrong, I still love those warm red tones. But this year, I’ve been leaning toward jewel tones for fall makeup looks!
Today I’m highlighting 5 new eye shadow palettes that scream fall makeup to me. Which should I pick up? I can’t decide!
Colourpop So Jaded –
Whether or not you believe in the mystical aspect of crystals and crystal healing, you can’t deny that they’re incredibly beautiful. The colors and natural designs of the stones are drop dead gorgeous. The So Jaded palette was inspired by crystals & gemstones and consists of 30 shades, which is the largest palette Colourpop has created.
It retails for $39 and contains a mix a matte and metallic shades, 1 super shock shadow, and 2 pressed glitters.
I was immediately drawn to the emerald and olive, amethyst, and sapphire shades. I can see mixing the jewel tones for an editorial look, but you can also achieve really neutral looks as well as warm, traditional fall toned looks.
Colourpop collaborations with Kathleen Lights are some of my favorite products CP pushes out. Her conceptual and color stories are always right up my alley, and the So Jaded palette isn’t any different. I haven’t decided if I want to pick it up or not, but I’m definitely tempted.
Lime Crime Venus Immortalis –
I know I just said I was feeling jewel tones for fall, and I am. But I’ve also just been craving something different than the typical warm brown/burgundy/orange mix. And this palette from Lime Crime caught my eye.
As part of their Venus collection, Venus Immortalis depicts the beautiful afterlife of goddess Venus. Per their website, “she’s more than smoke and mirrors…to be immortal is divinely thrive without end.” 1.) That inspiration just speaks to me right now, and 2.) you can’t deny these colors look beautiful.
It retails for $38 and contains 8 shadows in 4 finishes: matte, shimmer, foil, and sheer shimmer. The shimmers appealed to me first, but the more I look at the shade “Ash,” a matte slate gray, the more I want to play with gray. Not black, smokey eyes, just gray.
ABH x Jackie Aina –
I reviewed this palette recently, so I won’t go on about it too much. But I wanted to include it in this list, because the tones are, in my opinion, perfect for fall but still bright and fun.
The palette retails for $45, and in typical ABH fashion, the Jackie Aina palette contains 14 pigmented and blendable shades and contains a mix of warm and cool shades.
The shimmers really stand out for me. They’re all pretty unique, especially Sponsored and Lituation.
Pat McGrath Mothership VI | Midnight Sun –
I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a Pat McGrath palette, because they’re all beautiful. But because they’re freaking expensive, I want to be really sure before I make a purchase (if I make a purchase). The new Mothership VI palette, though, is tempting me like the fruit tempted Eve.
This palette is probably the most typical “fall palette” on the list, with warm browns, oranges, red, and purples. But I want it! It retails for $125 (yikes) and contains 10 shades with a mix of matte and metallic finishes.
If I do pull the trigger and pick this up for fall, I can really see myself using it on a day to day basis. I can use this on its own to create a neutral or colorful look, but I can also see myself mixing it with some other palettes and colors. I also can see myself using the more colorful shades all over the eye as a one shadow look.
Natasha Denona Metropolis –
The Metropolis palette from Natasha Denona is the palette the inspired this post in the first place. Look at those beautiful jewel toned shadows! Like the Mothership palette from Pat McGrath, I think this palette would be a good stand alone palette. And again, you get a chunk of warm fall tones, but you also have some pops of turquoise, navy, and green that add a little interest to the otherwise typical color palette.
Metropolis retails for $129 and contains 28 brand-new shades and 2 new formulas, as well as a never before seen midi size pan.
I own a Natasha Denona palette and like the formula. Do I think it’s worth the luxury price tag? I don’t know. But I don’t really think you’d be disappointed by the quality if you love the colors. I wills say: my qualm with this is that I think we could have benefited most with fewer pans. Some of the shades look pretty similar, and I think when you have too many pans in a palette, people can get overwhelmed.
For instance, Penny, Fuse, and Blaze look pretty similar. As do Enigma and Symbol. I think curating it a little more would have been best, but I still think it’s a gorgeous palette for fall.
