This spring, I am feeling a huge sense of renewal. I want to de-clutter my life. I want to get my body feeling good. And I generally just want to feel fresher in life. I’ve noticed that I’ve been translating that desire into my every day makeup routine.
Over the past few years, we’ve seen some pretty out-there beauty trends. From squiggly brows to applying contour with varying inanimate objects to vagina nails, things have gotten interesting in the beauty community. And we can thank the world wide web and its viral nature for allowing influencers to keep these “trends” going for the sake of shock value.
Personally, I’ve never felt inclined to try out any of these spectacular looks; I prefer to keep it a little more understated for my everyday wearing pleasure. And if you’re the same, I want to offer you my favorite lip products for spring. All are totally wearable but I think will add a shock value to your spring beauty look just the same.
Glossier Generation G Sheer Matte Lipstick in ‘Zip‘
Why I’m Loving It:
I love this product for two reasons. The first being the formula. It’s pretty self-explanatory, actually. It’s a sheer and matte lipstick. It’s not quite as moisturizing as a lipstick that’s creamier, but it’s not going to dry your lips out either. I love the sheer wash of color it gives you. It looks healthy and more natural. Though, you can build it up for a stronger color payoff.
The second reason I love this is the color. I’m specifically talking about Zip, which is a poppy red. I love this for spring. We saw matte reds all over the spring runways.

Marc Jacobs Le Marc Cream Lipstick in ‘Kiss Kiss Bang Bang‘
Why I’m Loving It:
I’ve spoken about this lip product before. I love the baked rose color. It’s bright and punchy while still being a wearable pink shade for everyday. The formula on this is also amazing. Unlike the previous matte lipstick form Glossier, this formula is really creamy. It doesn’t last all day, and you will have to reapply it. However, it’s extremely comfortable and moisturizing on the lips.

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in ‘Berry Rose’
Why I’m Loving It:
Remember how I mentioned renewal as a big thing for spring for me? This lipstick is pretty much spring renewal in a lip product. I love matte lips as much as the next girl, but sometimes my lips just need a break from the drying. These lipsticks are incredibly moisturizing and comfortable on the lips, and also last a decent amount of time without needing to reapply. ‘Berry Rose’ is my favorite shade, especially for spring. It makes your face look so healthy and bright.
What It’ll Cost You: About $5, depending on where you buy it
ColourPop Lip Gloss in ‘Fairy Floss‘
Why I’m Loving It:
I’m generally not a gloss girl, but I’ve recently been very turned on to the glossy lip. They add a juicy plumpness I’m loving. This peachy nude color in particular is very sheer, so it pairs nicely over tons of other shades as bases. I also like the Colourpop glosses because they’re not sticky or too goopy.

Wet ‘n Wild Megaslicks Balm Stain in ‘Lady and the Vamp’
Why I’m Loving It:
The name may make you categorize this as a fall product, but I love it for spring. Every so often, I want a purple-leaning berry shade, and this is it for me. It’s pretty sheer, as it is a tinted balm. But it’s heavy and really moisturizing. The tint also leaves a stain on your lips, which is amazing once the color wears off your lips initially.
What It’ll Cost You: About $3, depending on where it’s purchased
*I can’t find this to link online. I know my local drugstores still carry it, so if you find it, I’d grab a few shades.
Bare Minerals Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lipstick in ‘Swag‘
Why I’m Loving It:
I’m not going to lie, I have about 6 of these liquid lipsticks. They’re one of my favorite liquid lip formulas. Most matte liquid lip products are extremely long-lasting and drying, and while those are great in their own place and time, I don’t favor them on a daily basis. These liquid lips from Bare Minerals definitely dry down matte, but the creamy texture allows a little moisture to remain in your lips. While it doesn’t last all day, it fades nicely and is easy to reapply over and over again.
The shade in ‘Swag’ is described as a ‘blushing mauve,’ but on me it shows up as a pink-ish nude that’s a little brighter than others. It’s my go-to spring shade when I’m at a loss for which color to use.
What It’ll Cost You: $19
