I missed September’s Allure Beauty Box unboxing. But I was out of town when it arrived, and I just didn’t get around to it. And to be completely honest, September wasn’t my favorite box, either. However, October is here, and I’m back on track. I’m going out on a limb here and saying this is the best box yet.
If you aren’t familiar with the Allure Beauty Box, it’s a monthly subscription that delivers curated beauty boxes to your door. I’ll link my original unboxing post here so you can read more details about the subscription.
But for now, let’s jump into the goodies!
October —
“Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.”
-The Great Gatsby
A lot of people feel a sense of renewal in the spring when flowers start to bloom again after a long winter or birds return to their Northern nests. But I feel my sense of renewal and growth in the fall. Since the days of back to school season, fall has always symbolized productivity and beginning. That’s why I love this month’s box. It’s full of products that offer glowy skin, fluttery lashes, and a pop of color, too!
The Goods–
Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara: I recently picked this up as one of my six beauty products to try for fall, and I’ve really been enjoying it. In one coat, this mascara gives my lashes and quick and soft lift and fluttery volume that opens up my eyes. I find that the triangular shaped handle helps you to effectively coat every lash. On the first coat, my pretty thin lashes look longer and thicker. By the second or third coat, it looks like I’m wearing falsies! I love this trial size to leave in my travel makeup bag.
YSL Tatouage Couture Matter Liquid Lip Stain: I purchased one of these when they first came out, and I’ve wanted to pick another up sometime. One of my favorite features of this lip product is the slanted wand, which the sample size unfortunately doesn’t have. Luckily, the formula is really great as well. This lipstick formula is thin and fluid, like a stain. But it’s opaque, like a lipstick. It’s long-wearing, but somehow isn’t at all drying. I got the shade Rosewood Gang.
Sunday Riley Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment; I’ve only tried two products from Sunday Riley, and neither was my absolute favorite. But since I’ve heard such great things about the brand, I want to find something I love. Lucky for me, there’s two products in this box to try out!
The Good Genes lactic acid treatment is supposed to be an AHA treatment that leaves your skin exfoliated, smooth, and bright while dulling the appearance of fine lines and hyperpigmentation.
Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Cleanser: I love trying out new cleansers, and this one sounds promising. It’s supposed to be a great detoxifying cleanser that doesn’t strip your skin of moisture or hydration. I’ve been suffering from tiny, below the skin bumps recently, so I’m hoping this will help clear them up!
BKR Paris Water Balm: This is the cutest little pot of lip balm ever with the clear pot and petal pink tint. It felt moisturizing, but I’ve only used this one time, so I don’t have a definitive opinion yet. It’s very thin. It’s the kind of lip balm that would be great to wear under lipsticks because it’s not oily or waxy, and it’s not too thick. So your lip product will sit on top of it comfortably.
Caudalie Vinopure Skin Perfecting Serum: Caudalie is a sold brand in my opinion. I don’t think I’ve ever tried a product I haven’t liked. I’m currently using the Vinosource Thirst Quenching Serum and love it! This particular serum contains beta hydroxy acid, which is great for calming redness, and salicylic acid is ideal for balancing combo skin. I’m excited to try this now this it’s (finally) getting colder, when I tend to get dry patches on my face.
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream: I’m no stranger to this product, and I have so many deluxe samples of it I won’t have to buy it for a year! Needless to say, I was pleased to get this in the box. It’s incredibly rich and moisturizing but doesn’t clog my pores or make my skin feel greasy during the day. I also use this on dry patches on my body and on my hands if they’re particularly dry.
