Since I got my May beauty boxes a little late in the month, I contemplated waiting until my June boxes arrived to do an unboxing. Buuuut you said you still wanted to see May’s boxes, so. Here we are.
I don’t know about you, but I love beauty subscription boxes. Every month, I get to try products I might not have discovered if I hadn’t received them in my monthly box. I’ve found many favorite products by way of beauty boxes. However, my samples collection got a little out of hand, so I curated my beauty box subscriptions a bit.
Currently I subscribe to Allure’s Beauty Box and Facetory. And I’m really happy with these beauty boxes. I also get a lot of questions about them. So I thought it’d be fun to do reviews each month, so you can decide if you’d like to subscribe too! Since this is an introductory post, it’ll be a little longer than those to follow. So let’s jump in.
ALLURE BEAUTY BOX
The Deets:
Allure’s Beauty Box is $15 per month and comes with about 6 full or deluxe sized sample products selected by Allure experts and editors. It also comes with a mini magazine every month with tips, tricks, descriptions, and detailed how-tos for each product in the box. New members will get their first box for $10 plus a free gift. Shipping is free with this box.
The Goods:
- First Aid Beauty Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer: I already know I love this stuff, and I always love getting samples of it for travel and to keep at my boyfriend’s. I love this moisturizer because it’s the type that gives you instant gratification–with the peachy tint and touch of shimmer, your face glows instantly. You can blot this on the high points of you face or on your browbone as a highlight, but I prefer to just put it all over my face. It gives you a lit from within glow with or without makeup. $28
- St. Tropez Instant Tan Finishing Gloss: I’m very fair and don’t like using self-tanners, so I’m excited to try this temporary body bronzer. From the mini mag: “It gives very subtle color but a really nice sheen…that…glow stayed all day. The hint of color evened out my skin tone…best of all, it washes off.” $25
- CLE Melting Lip Powder in Desert Rose: I was immediately intrigued by this lip powder. I’d never heard of that concept before. They’re what they sound like–a powder you spread on your lips and magically turn into smooth lip tints. It’s a little more buildable than a stain, but still looks pretty natural. I thought application would be messy, but it really wasn’t. The color is beautiful as well. The shade is a matte raspberry and will be perfect for summer! $19.99 *Full-size included in box
- Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Gold Eye Masks: I’ll admit I haven’t tried these yet, but they look promising. These gold eye masks are gold in color and are meant to de-puff and brighten your under eye with a soft shimmer. they also claim not to leave a sticky residue upon removal. $25 for 6 *BOX PROMO: Use ALLURE20218 to receive 20% off your purchase at wanderbeauty.com through July 31st.
- L’Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray: I think this may have been the new member gift. I’m not a new member, but OK. I recently used this over the weekend, and it does give you a very strong hold but doesn’t make your skin feel crunchy. It also smells nice, which I love in a hairspray.
- Kenra Dry Oil Control Spray: This is not the first product I’ve used with this concept, but I do like it a little better than others. Oily girls, don’t fret, you may still like this. It gives you a medium hold, but also smooths flyaways and frizz without removing or flattening any texture. Packed with natural oils–sweet almond, grapeseed, argan, and macadamia–you’ll get loads of shine without weighing down your hair. $19
