Spring has sprung, and so have company’s spring beauty launches. I’ve been sifting through the new arrivals, and I have some thoughts. I don’t particularly have anything punchy to talk about otherwise this afternoon, so let’s just jump into the items I’m not going to buy this spring.
- Tarte’s Be A Mermaid & Make Waves Collection: More specifically the brush set. I’m over cleverly themed brushes that are weird shapes and hard to store. I don’t need brushes that look like mermaids. I need brushes of good quality, for a reasonable price. And besides, I much prefer classic looking brush designs. I’m also extremely past the mermaid fad. Don’t need it; not going to buy it.
- GlamGlow x My Little Pony #Glittermask: I’m generally not into beauty collections inspired by cartoons. GlamGlow promises high quality skincare, and My Little Pony is a children’s cartoon character. Those two just don’t mix to me. It doesn’t make any sense why you’d use children’s marketing and packaging on an adult geared product. I’m also disinterested in a lot of Glam Glow’s recent masks with glitter. I’m not a skincare expert, so I don’t know that this makes a difference, but I don’t want glitter in my face masks. I don’t see a point.
- Too Faced’s Life’s A Festival collection: I’ve talked about Too Faced before. I tend not to purchase anything from the brand, because I’m just not intrigued at all by the packaging. This collection in particular seems random to me. Everything is rainbow/unicorn themed; however, they’re marketing it as festival season makeup? It just seems to me like they were working on a unicorn themed line, took too long to release it, and then by the time they did it was time for Coachella prep.
- Becca’s Ocean Jewels Highlighter palette: Like everything mentioned before, I’m not interested in the packaging. I do love Becca products, a lot. This highlight palette in particular I’m not going to buy, because I know I’ll use the colors once or twice and then it’ll sit in a drawer. They just aren’t colors I’m interested in at the moment.
I didn’t have a ton of products I’m definitely not going to buy this go around. Most of the products I’ve seen seem fine. I’m just not in the market for a ton of new makeup at the moment. But if you’ve read this far, I have a BONUS for you. I’m also including a small wishlist of products I DO want to pick up.

- ABH Soft Glam Eye Shadow Palette: I love the ABH palettes, and I’ve had nothing but good luck with them in the past. This looks like a group of colors I’d use on an every day basis.
- Becca Hydra-Mist Set & Refresh Powder: Like I said, I really like Becca’s products, and this one I want to try. Hydra and mist in a setting powder? What? I have to know details.
- Glow Recipe Watermelon Pink Juice Moisturizer: I am a slave to the Watermelon mask from Glow Recipe, so when I saw this moisturizer, I immediately added it to my wishlist.
- Becca Liptuitive Glow Lip Gloss: I like these lip products that are supposed to react to your body chemistry to create a custom shade. I’ve also been into lip gloss recently, so I’d like to give this a try.
What products do you have your eye on this season? And what products are you definitely not going to buy?
