The Summer Beauty Edit

With the arrival of summer and plenty of sunny days ahead, it’s time to make a few beauty swaps. Today I wanted to highlight a few of my favorite products I’ve introduced to my collection for the summer months — from the ultimate summer scent to the most satisfyingly wet highlight, and even my new favorite SPF.

Skincare + Fragrance

Who doesn’t want smooth and radiant skin during the summer? I recently received a sample of Ouai’s Scalp & Body Scrub in an Allure Beauty Box, and quickly fell in love. So much so I bought the full size. I don’t use this as a scalp scrub; those don’t really work with my hair/scalp. But as a body scrub? It’s so luxurious and smells amazing. What I love about this is on my body is that it foams and gently exfoliates the skin to leave it feeling smooth and moisturized.

I’ve also introduced a new sunscreen a few weeks ago, Coola Mineral Sun Silk Creme SPF 30. It doesn’t leave my face feeling greasy or gritty, and it doesn’t leave a white cast behind. What I love most is that it doesn’t have the typical SPF fragrance.

When I think summer smells, I think of a particular scent. But I can’t put it into words. It’s a mix of sticky sweet, SPF, and ocean air. Ya’ll, Maison Margiela captured it, and I’ve been wearing this non-stop recently. Replica Beach Walk literally smells like you’re walking long the beach. It combines florals with notes of lemon, coconut milk, and cedarwood.

Makeup

I’ve talked about how I’ve been gravitating toward a glowing goddess lately, but this highlight has taken that to a new, delicious level. The Glass Glow Face Liquid Highlighter from Kevyn Aucoin is a lightweight face gloss that creates a wet, glass-like finish on the skin. While it’s a bit intense, it still looks natural and hydrating instead of blinding and artificial. I have the sheer shade but really want to try the Prism Rose shade as well.

My favorite brow products are volumizing gels, and I’ve tried a lot. I recently picked up the Arch Brow Fiber Gel from Hourglass. It’s a buildable, tinted gel formula infused with micro fibers that add color and volume to the brows. I haven’t tried this out yet, but I’m looking forward to it. In the summer, I love the just sweep a gel through my brows and call it a day.

My collection was lacking a clear gloss, so I added Colourpop’s So Juicy gloss in Princess Cut to a recent haul. It’s pretty thick and sticky, but I don’t find it to be uncomfortable on the lips. It leaves behind a minty, tingly sensation that I personally love. And from time to time, I’ll add a bit to my cheekbones as a highlight when I feel my skin is looking dull.
