Be it in magazines, our verbiage, on beauty blogs, it kind of seems that you’re supposed to have a designated beauty regimen for each season. Fresh faced picks in spring, brights for summer, go sultry in the fall, and glamorous in winter. There’s kind of a lot of pressure to buy, buy, buy and refresh everything with each weather shift. But realistically, my favorite products usually remain my favorite products from season to season.
Today I wanted to talk about all the beauty products I loved during summer that I plan on using in full force come fall. Because when they’re good, they’re good.
Bumble and Bumble Tres Invisible Dry Shampoo
While I still think the Living Proof dry shampoo is the best in terms of making my hair look a hell of a lot cleaner than it is, it can leave my hair feeling heavy. Do you know what I mean? I can tell I have used product, and it’s on my hair. I saw this at Ulta a few months ago, and since I’ve tried virtually every dry shampoo, I thought I’d pick it up and give it a shot. It’s a bold statement, but I think this is my new favorite (sorry Living Proof, still love ya!).
It absorbs oils in my hair without leaving a gritty texture or white cast. Another BB product I love is their Prêt‑à‑Powder for it’s ability to give my limp hair life. This spray dry shampoo does the same thing without the hassle of blending a powder into your hair.
A dry shampoo that makes my hair look and feel clean and gives me weightless volume? Yes, a million times.
Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue
I’m not going to talk about this, because I won’t shut up about it. Just read this. But I will say, people tend to count their tinted moisturizing products out during the cooler months, because they want a fuller coverage. Remember, you can always use a concealer and powder to increase coverage and matte finishes.
Marc Jacobs Enamored Hydrating Lip Gloss Stick in Sugar Sugar
I’m not going to linger too long here either, because I did a full review on this product (read it here). I love the shine this gives to my lips, and I think it’s most beautiful over darker lip colors. Shiny and hydrated looking lips are a trend I’m stealing from summer and bringing to fall!
Julep It’s Whipped Matte Lip Mousse in Beso
I know I just said I want glossy lips for fall, but not all of the time. I’m still a gloss newbie; baby steps. I’ve spoken about the It’s Whipped Lip Mousse from Julep Beauty before, and I think it’s safe to say they’re always going to be on hand. But I’ve especially been digging ‘Beso,’ a vibrant orange. Come fall, everyone gravitates toward their oxblood and plum shades. But who said you have to leave your summer shades behind? I think this will look amazing with dark copper smokey eyes.
Wet n Wild Color Icon Baked Blush in Hummingbird Hype
This baked blush in ‘Hummingbird Hype’ has been in my everyday makeup bag since I got it! It’s a pretty orangey peachy shade but with a ton of gold shimmer. During the summer, I’d top any of my blushes off with these for an extra glow and orange shift. And it complimented almost every look I wore. Not to mention it’s a blush/highlight 2-for on days when I’m rushing.
I want to bring this into fall to add a dimensional look to my makeup. So often we think fall=matte, which can tend to look flat. Popping this on my cheeks will instantly freshen up my face while adding a beautiful sheen.
Wet n Wild Color Icon Eye Shadow Quad in Stop Ruffling My Feathers
Another product from Wet n Wild’s Flights of Fancy collection I can’t get enough of is the eye shadow quad in ‘Stop Ruffling My Feathers.’ In my head, this palette screams fall anyway. There’s a darker brown, which is great for deepening an eye look, and a copper which is a classic fall shade. And a champagne shimmer is great of any palette. But the pop of pink is what’s exciting in here. Some may think it’s a summer-esque shade, but I think it’ll compliment oranges and reds beautifully.
CLE Cosmetics Essence Moonlighter Cushion in Glinting Buff
This is the first summer I’ve been exceptionally into really glowy and dewy skin. I think it’s because I’ve taken a lot of time to logically care for my skin for the first time …well… ever. And I want to show off how fresh faced I am! I wouldn’t say this highlighter is subtle, but it’s not an ET level shine either. It leaves an almost wet looking glow behind, and I think it’s seriously beautiful. This is a favorite on days I’m not wearing a ton of makeup (I just apply a little with my fingers) and when I have on a full face! Since the color is a basic champagne, it’ll still work well with my fall favorites.
Algenist REVEAL Concentrated Luminizing Drops in Pearl
Another glowy product I’ve been obsessed with lately is the ‘Pearl’ Luminizing Drops from Algenist. I have a teeny tiny baby bottle that I got as a perk from Sephora, but when it’s gone, the full size is getting added to the list. Firstly, it smells expensive (which it is), but it’s pleasant to actually apply. Second, It feels expensive (again, it is).
The way I like to use this is to mix it in with my moisturizer and apply it all over my face. This is what I do on days I don’t want to wear makeup, but my skin is looking a little dull. But I also do this on days I know I want an extra glow under my makeup. Did someone say glowy skin for fall is out? Because I think they’re wrong.
Masqueology Watermelon Moisturizing Glow Mask
Just because summer is over doesn’t mean I’m going to retire this summer staple. This sheet mask is infused with watermelon is incredibly cooling and soothing, which I loved in summer for after sun TLC. But aside from the cooling aspect that’s great to combat sun irritation, it’s hydrating and brightening as well. That’s something I want from my skincare all year round. Immediately after removing this mask, my skin looks and feels amazing. I usually use this before bed, so the serum can really sink into my skin overnight.
Do you have any summer favorites that you aren’t letting go of for fall? What does your fall makeup look like?
