I put up my Christmas tree and wrapped up (pun intended) most of my shopping today, so the holidays are officially in full swing. And since I have a Christmas party this Wednesday, I wanted to give a few outfit options for any kind of holiday parties you may be attending this season, from super low key and casual to formal. Keep reading for some of my favorite holiday party looks.
Cashmere + Leather
Who What Wear
I love mixing fabrics, textures, and silhouettes you wouldn’t immediately put together. Try pairing something hard, like leather, with something feminine and soft, such a cashmere sweater (or something imitation for a look that’s more cost effective.) I love the look above because it takes that juxtaposition a step further and uses a hard material in a feminine A-line silhouette and leaves the cashmere sweater loose and flowing, which makes it a bit edgier. I pair something like this with tights, solid colored pumps, and diamond stud earrings.
Casual With A Twist
Zara
I was perusing Zara’s website and came across this dress, and thought it’d be perfect for holiday parties. It’s a really casual silhouette, with the loose fit, draping neckline, and peekaboo shoulder details, but the sequins make it a little more formal, and festive. Finish off this look with heels, boots, or even sneakers–whatever you’re feeling–and you’ll be turning heads.
All Glam, All Night
Who What Wear
Sometimes you just want to go full glam, and the holidays are a great time to do it. Start with a tailored pair of trousers and begin adding to them. Patent pumps, one shoulder tops, sequins, tassels…the more, the merrier.
Boho Chic
What Who Wear
As I previously mentioned, most of my holiday parties are pretty casual. This week I’m going to a gift exchange at a pizza and beer joint, and I’m totally okay with that. When most people think “boho” fashion, they think summertime, but don’t be afraid to rock it in the winter. I love the look of these wide-leg jeans matched with a flowy, ruffled top. It’s over the top without being too formal.
Chunky Knit + Denim
Who What Wear
This is my winter look, for sure. If you know me, you know I love a good ankle boot and chunky knit sweater. Wearing them with jeans is a comfortable look while still looking like you put some thought into it.
Full + Flannel
The Stylish Petite
Plaids remind me of the holidays. Try wearing a traditional colored flannel (reds, navy, yellows, greens, etc.) with a full skirt and strappy pumps. By adding accessories like pearls and diamonds, you’ll look super feminine and flirty. Mistletoe, anyone?
Simply Chic
9 to 5 Chic
And another chic but simple look. I love the crispness of this look. The bell sleeves add a bit of interest to the sweater, and the heels dress up the look a bit. I’d probably add a simple pendant necklace, but feel free to make a statement with your jewelry or makeup. This outfit allows for it without any competition.
Formal + Fierce
The Viva Luxury
You could most definitely channel your inner Carrie Bradshaw, her best woman outfit for Stanford’s wedding, and rock a glam tux jacket and trouser, bow tie included, this holiday season, or you could tone it down just a bit. I love the minimalist look of a black blazer and black trousers. I’d probably wear a black blouse beneath it with textured shoes and a bright red lip and ultra-highlighted cheekbones.
