First of all … where in the heck did 2019 go? I know time starts to feel like it moves faster as you get older, but is it just me or did 2019 fly by? That, I don’t know, but I do know I’m excited for 2020. I have a few things up my sleeve, and generally just have a good feeling about a new year, a new decade. But today I wanted to take a peek at some of my favorite beauty products from 2019.
If you’ve been around a bit, you’ll know I’m a major creature of habit. And honestly, I didn’t try a ton of new beauty things in 2019. But I did find a few new favorites over the past year. Instead of telling you how much I love the Complexion Rescue tinted moisturizer again, we’re talking about some other products that made it to 2019 beauty favorites status.
the favorites
base
L’Oreal Lumi Shake and Glow Dew Mist: Last year and toward the beginning of 2019, I was a slave to Tatcha’s Glowy Skin Mist, but it’s 100% been replaced by this from L’Oreal. Firstly, the mist is great. Second, it leaves my skin so dewy and fresh looking and can be applied before and after makeup application. It feels like an expensive face mist, but without the price tag.
Covergirl TruBlend Undercover Concealer: I’m on the hunt for my holy grail concealer. I haven’t found it, but I have 2 that have been with me constantly in 2019. The TruBlend concealer from Covergirl is great for under the eye. It’s full coverage, but it’s still creamy and lightweight.
Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer: The other concealer I fell in love with in 2019 is the Soft Matte Complete concealer from Nars. I’m a little dry, so I was nervous by the “Soft Matte” title, but I don’t find it to be too mattifying. It blends out easily and covers blemishes. I don’t love this under the eye; I find it settles into fine lines a little too much. But I love it for face correction.
bareMinerals Invisible Bronzer: I’m on the hunt for my perfect bronzer. I’m not sure this is perfect, but I do love it. It’s a baked formula that creates a natural looking bronze and has a multi-dimensional finish that leaves your skin looking sun-kissed. It definitely doesn’t have shimmer in it, but I find it leaves behind a healthy looking glow.
Pat McGrath Skin Fetish Sublime Perfection foundation: I posted a review on this foundation when it came out saying it was too expensive (it is) and how I didn’t looove it, but I haven’t put it down since. It’s a very lightweight, serum like foundation that wears beautifully on my skin. I find it gets better the longer you wear it. You can get about a light/light-medium coverage, and I find the finish is more matte, less dewy than claimed. I like to prep the skin with a glowing moisturizer.

Ciate London Dewy Stix in ‘Glow:‘ I received this in an Allure box a few months back, and it quickly became a favorite. It’s a balmy highlighting stick that leaves behind the most natural, wet looking glow without any glitter or shimmer. My favorite way to use it is on a almost bare face. However, I also found it played well with most of my other base products.
Flesh Highlighting Balm in ‘Startle:’ Another highlighter I fell in love with in 2019 was this one from Flesh. Unlike the Ciate stick, the Flesh stick (ugh) is creamy and less slick. It leaves behind a shimmer finish that melts into the skin for a beautiful glow.

Wander Beauty Mile High Club mascara: I also received the Mile High Club mascara in an Allure box, and I’m so happy I did. It’s easily one of my top 3 mascaras. The formula is a little wet right off the gate, but it dries into a perfect formula. While I don’t find this mascara gives me tremendous volume, it gives me enough to thicken my lashes and fan them out in a natural looking way. It doesn’t flake on me, which is rare, and lasts all freaking day.
And those were a few of my 2019 beauty favorites. Of course, there are other products I was loving throughout the year. But I found myself tossing all of these in my makeup bag on the go, keeping them in my everyday makeup stash, and generally wanting to reach for. What were some of your 2019 beauty favorites?
