Something I have learned to appreciate about the Allure Beauty Box is the introduction from Features Director, Jessica Cruel. The little quick description of the box always seems so relevant to me as well. For instance, I, too, and incredibly stressed. My sleep schedule is disastrous, and I have so much happening in my life and mind that it’s literally impossible to decompress. Listen, skincare isn’t going to fix any of my current issues (except maybe the little zit friend taking up real estate on my cheek,) but it definitely isn’t going to hurt. So here’s to another Allure Beauty Box Unboxing for August 2020’s box.

Floss Brighten Up Highlighter in Sunlit: If you’ve been around for a bit, you’ll know I won’t stop going on about the Floss lip glosses. They’re so juicy and glass-like. So I was very excited to get another Floss product in this month’s box. This highlighter is buttery smooth and creamy. The formula itself is pretty glittery/shimmery, but it tends to be less intense on the cheek than in a swatch. I will have to play around with this one more.
Full size in box $20
Whish Botanical Primer: Primer is a new love for me, but boy do I love it. This one is a blend of argan oil, aloe, and bakuchiol (a gentle alternative to reinol.) It feels nice on my hand, but, again, I’ll need to use this one on the face a little more.
Full size $44 ; Box value $16.50

Pixi Rose Oil Blend*: I hear great things about a lot of Pixi’s skincare, but I haven’t tried much from the brand. This one is comprised of hydrating oils including sweet almond oil, orange peel, pomegranate seed, jojoba, and rose geranium oil. The smell of this blend is so calming and delightful. In addition to using an oil in my PM skincare routine, I also enjoy adding it to foundations to sheer out the formula a bit.
Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum*: Korean skincare is intriguing — I mean their skin always looks amazing. So I’m excited to try out this serum. Instead of typical ingredients like hyaluronic acid or vitamin C, this one is formulated with a blend of 5 Korean herbs: peony, lotus, Rehmannia, Solomon’s Seal, and white lily. These ingredients work together to hydrate, brighten, and firm the skin — which is exactly what I want. I find this to be lightweight and makes my skin incredibly soft and hydrated, and it leaves behind the most beautiful and subtle glow to the skin.
Full size $84 ; Box value $11.20*
Erno Laszlo Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar*: This is one of those brands on my radar but that I haven’t tried much from. If I’m correct, it was a fan favorite of Marilyn Monroe, which is kind of cool. This Deep Cleansing Bar is an old fashioned, simple bar soap and is the brand’s most classic product. It’s extremely good at it’s cleansing job, but it does have a heavy fragrance if that bothers you. The brand has also relaunched their bar soaps with sustainable, all-paper packaging.
Full size $38 ; Box value $19*
H2O+ Hydrating Sensitive Gel Cream Moisturizer: I love a good moisturizer; we all know this. This one is super simple and gentle yet effective. It’s full of chamomile to calm redness and irritation while hyssop and squalane hydrate.
Full size $42 ; Box value $8.40
Looks & Meii Brightening Life Up Perfect Fit Mask: This is another K beauty brand, but it just recently launched in the U.S. The artwork on this mask is amazing; I love it. The mask itself is soaked in niacinamide and vitamin C to brighten.
Full size in box $3 (for one)

Bottom line on this Allure Beauty Box unboxing: it’s not my absolute favorite. But I’m not upset. A lot of people don’t enjoy having loads of samples, but I find them incredibly useful. Right now, especially, they’re nice because I’m on a low buy and running low on some of my skincare. I’m excited to use the Pixi oil and Sulwhasoo serum. And I will report back on the highlighter, because I want to love it but have my reservations. What do you think of this Allure Beauty Box unboxing from this month?
