I recently uploaded an anti-haul on beauty products I have no intention of buying, and I received a really good response to it. There’s so much hype and intrigue surrounding beauty launches, and companies seem to be releasing collections and products weekly (come on, no one can keep up), I think it’s important to talk about the adverse reaction–things I don’t want to purchase for one reason or another. Because the honest truth is we don’t need every product.
If you haven’t been exposed to anti-hauls, you need to delve into the rabbit hole that is Kimberly Clark’s Youtube channel. Block out some time, because you’ll watch every video in one sitting. She came up with the idea of anti-hauls to make a point about consumerism and spending, and you should really give her a look-see.
For some disclaimers, look at my last anti-haul, and let’s jump into the summer launches I’m not buying.
Urban Decay Naked Heat eye shadow palette, $54
I wanted to kick off with this, because it’s special. I want this. And I probably will buy this. But I don’t need it nor am I buying it right now. Now, there has been some controversy surrounding this palette. Essentially a magazine posted poorly done swatches and there was an uproar, also being yet another warm palette, people had some comments.
From the swatches and reviews I’ve seen, it looks up to par in quality as any other UD palette. And I know I said in my last anti-haul I was over warm palettes and want to see something new…and I do. But the fact of the matter is we keep buying these, so companies keep making them. I digress.
The point is, I don’t need this now, so I’m not buying it now. It’s not limited edition, and I’ll be able to pick it up later if I desire.
This will be restocked on Urban Decay’s website on 30 June.
KKW Beauty
I don’t intend on buying anything from Kim Kardashian’s new beauty line. Not a single thing in the line looks intriguing to me. If anything the photo above, of highlight and contour products, looks like frosting. And now I kind of want cake. But other than that, I’m underwhelmed.
Don’t need it. Not buying it.

Kylie Cosmetics ‘Take Me On Vacation’ summer collection
Oh look, another Kardashian/Jenner sister. And another collection I’m not buying. I let this collection sell out without blinking an eye.
I have Kylie Cosmetics products, and I really like them for the most part. I’m not refraining from this because I think the quality is off, I just am not taken away by the colors, and I know myself. I won’t reach for anything in this collection often.

Anastasia Aurora Glow Kit, $40
This looks appealing. It does. The colors look nice together, and the arrangement and packaging makes this look pretty. But that’s only from a color standpoint. These are highlight powders. When am I ever going to wear that dark orange/gold as a highlight on my printer paper white skin? That would look ridiculous.
I am into subtle color for highlight, especially during the summer. I have the Aura highlight from UD, which is a really fair pink with some glitter reflects throughout it. But to spend this much on a palette I’m going to use maybe one month out of the year? That’s not worth it to me. guess if you’re a music festival goer, this may be cool. Or if you do makeup for photos and styled shoots, this could be useful. But for me, the every day makeup enthusiast, I’m not going to wear any of these on a regular basis.

Too Faced Glitter Bomb eye palette, $45
This is another palette that is pretty, and I don’t have anything against this. The only reason I’m not buying it is because I don’t wear a lot of glitter eye shadow. I think the colors look great and like that they included a matte white and black to intensify or alter the effect. I just know I won’t wear it often, so I’m going to pass.

Story Book Cosmetics Rose Brush Set
Nope. No, thank you. You can keep them.
I’m kind of over novelty brushes, personally. Just give me some brushes that work well and are easy to store.
