+ some extra body and hair bits and bobs
Let’s be real for a minute. 1) I haven’t gone to an event or outing that truly required makeup in literal months. Half of the time when I go out, I don’t even put colored lipstick on, just a balm, because my mask covers it anyway. 2) If you look through my makeup drawers, you’d find an obscene amount of product that hasn’t been touched, again, in literal months. I have so much time to play with color and new products coming into my collection. But I don’t. I’ve been reaching for the same nude ass products as usual. It’s very on brand; I can’t help it. So that’s what we’re touching base on today — my everyday makeup situation … aka my June favorites … aka this stuff is really good.

bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Stick Foundation (Opal 01)*: Have I dethroned my original bareMinerals Complexion Rescue tinted moisturizer*? I don’t know. Maybe. I am so close to being done with this foundation stick. I’m literally scraping it off the sides. Since we’ve been in quarantine, I have been working to perfect that effortless, hardly any foundation foundation look that makeup artists use. And I’ve gotten that with this stick. I’ll apply it either directly to my face or onto my fingers and blend it in with my hands, more often than not. But they key lately has been only applying this where I really need to cover any blemishes or redness — so for me it’s around my nose, mouth, a little around my jaw, and just a tid bit on my forehead. I’ll even use it as a concealer if I can get away with it. It’s easy to blend into the skin, and it gives the most hydrated, healthy appeal.
Check out my original review here.
NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer (Chantilly)*: I’ve almost forgotten how much I love this concealer*, so I’m happy to have picked it back up for June. Much like the foundation technique I’ve been using, I’ll only apply a tiny bit of this to spot conceal where I need it. It’s not my favorite for under the eye–I find it to be just a little too heavy–but I do find it blends into the skin so beautifully to help cover spots.
Hourglass Veil Setting Powder*: I’ve never loooved a setting powder; they’ve all just been fine. But I love this. It’s everything I need, and you can cater it to what you need in a given day. If you apply just a little, it’s really translucent. If you use it to bake under the eye, it’s a little more brightening. And after a while, I think it starts to look a little luminous.
Charlotte Tilbury Contour Wand (Fair-Medium)*: I bought this on a whim when I wanted to start trying liquid bronzers, and it honestly intimidated me a little. It looks quite dark, but it blends out seamlessly. I like to apply this with a damp beauty sponge, and I think it’s impossible to apply this incorrectly. It’s like the easiest product I have ever used.
M.A.C. Glow Play Blush in So Natural*: I’ve been all about blushes lately, but since I’ve gotten this one from M.A.C. I have hardly used anything else. It has a very bouncy texture when you dip your finger in. If you remember those Maybelline Dream Bounce Blushes, it’s very similar to that texture. I like to apply this with my finger, and the formula is so nice on the skin. It offers a workable color with a beautiful sheen (but not glitter.) The color, in particular, is what I love. It’s a golden beige color that pulls a little orange on my fair skin, but in the most beautiful way.
e.l.f. Bite Size Palette in Cream & Sugar*: I’ll keep this a concise as the palette. High quality. $3. The shimmers in here are almost wet looking. Obsessed.
Colourpop BFF Creme Gel Liner in Mr. Bing: I’ve kind of forgone liquid liners. But every now and again I’ll pop a cream liner on the lashline or use it to tightlight when I don’t want to wear mascara. Mr. Bing is such a perfect brown. Not too dark, not too black, not too golden.
Revlon Super Lustrous Shine lipstick in Nude Illuminator*: This whole line is a favorite of mine; I have quite a few of them. But I haven’t been able to stop wearing Nude Illuminator. It’s such a pretty rosy pink color, and the glossy sheen really does take it up a notch for me. I’ve been loving a glossy lip. These remind me a lot of the YSL Volutpe Shine* lipsticks I love, but are almost better. This shade, in particular, is very much a my lips but better shade (and much better), so I can swipe this on with or without makeup and instantly look more put together. And I love a juicy lip — very kissable (;

Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47*: This dry bitch loves a good daytime moisturizer, a good SPF, and anything that makes my skin look obnoxiously glowy. And this is all of that wrapped into one. I find this offers beautiful moisture to the skin while remaining weightless. It also has a very delicate, sweet smell and doesn’t smell like typical sunscreen at all. And it truly offers such a beautiful, been outside in the heat but in a good way kind of glow. However, I don’t think you’d like this if you’re an oily gal. I’d suggest something like the Supergoop! Unseen*, which is colorless and doesn’t offer a whole lot of anything in terms of finish, or my other favorite Coola Full Spectrum Silk Cream*, which offers a more mattified finish.
[ a few body + a haircare favorite ]
Kristen Ess Dry Shampoo Powder*: You can bet your bottom dollar your girl is not washing her enough while social distancing at home. So I’m using dry shampoo a lot. Nothing works better than good ole baby powder*, in my opinion. But I love this. And the little bottle is so chic; it looks cute on your counter.
Ouai Chill Pills*: Quarantine hasn’t made me a bath bitch. I’ve always been this way. I picked these up recently, and was sort of embarrassed that I spent $30 on these bath fizzes, but really it’s only about $5 per pill. The scent smells expensive, which I love. And dropping these in the bath makes my water and skin so soft. I like to drop one of these under my back and shoulders, so the fizzies can work their magic on those target areas of my body.
Lush Helping Hands Hand Cream: I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect hand cream. This isn’t it. But I do love it. It’s very moisturizing, and the scent is very oatmeal-like, but not in a offensive kind of way. I don’t feel like it dries my hands out the way some other hand creams do. And this doesn’t stay sticky or greasy. It feels very nice. The only downside is that it comes in a pot packaging, which I don’t love.
