February’s Allure Beauty Box was all about indulging in quick, easy, but effectively luxurious products. From a high ticket resurfacing serum to tinted lip balm to a hair mask, the February box contained a little bit of everything. And I was quite excited for all of the products in the box. The box value was definitely there. But how did my personal value compare? After a month of using these products, I have some thoughts. So let’s get into this February Allure Beauty Box Review.
If you’d like to sign up for the Allure Beauty Box, feel free to use my referral code here. If not, that’s ok. Google it. Floss Lip Advocate in Your Honor
There are some products that leave me with polarizing feelings — I either love them or absolutely hate them. And then there are some products that are just meh. I don’t really have a ton of feelings one way or another. This lip balm kind of falls into that meh category. And I was kind of let down by that. I really wanted to love this, because I love the lip gloss from Floss so much.
The formula is fine. It’s thin and feels comfortable and hydrating on the lip. And the color is a really pretty petal pink. But you can’t see it on the lip at all. Unless the tone is just so similar to my lip color that the light wash doesn’t show up on me, there is no color pay off on the lip. And don’t get me wrong, it’s a tinted lip balm — I’m not expecting high opacity. But there is nothing. I just wasn’t wowed.
Having said that, though, I do consider this valuable for me in the context of this post. I’ve put it in my skincare cabinet, and I pop it on in the morning or throughout the day when I need a little boost of hydration to the lip. So I will use this. I just won’t be repurchasing.
Tinted Lip Balms I Like Better:

U Beauty Resurfacing Compound*
This was the high ticket item of the February box, ringing in at $148. I was really excited to try this. One, it touts exclusivity because it’s sold out multiple times. I wanted in on the action. Two, because it claims to moisturize, hydrate, and brighten all in one step, which is right up my alley. And I do like this, I think.
I started using this, and I love the texture. It feels smoothing and hydrating on the skin. And I do think I noticed brightening. However, around the same time I began experiencing some pretty serious hormonal breakouts. But I did not break out because of this product. I did stop using it, however. As I stopped using almost all of my skincare extras and migrated back to basics — cleanser, moisturizer, eye cream, SPF.
I’m eager to begin integrating this back into my skincare routine, though, once I get this break out situation under control. My stress levels have been through the roof, but I have a feeling good things are coming.
I do consider this valuable, because I’ve liked it when I used it, and I will definitely begin using it again when I can.
Madeca Derma Revitalizing Mask*
I surely found value in this sheet mask, as I used it. I did like it. As far as sheet masks are concerned, this one is doused in a milker serum, which I really enjoy. It was hydrating on the skin, and left my face glowing and soft. I also really appreciate it didn’t slip and slide all over my face. I like to apply a sheet mask after a bath and let it sit while I put lotion on my body and tidy up the bathroom. But sometimes masks aren’t conducive to that and will slide off of your face. I didn’t notice this doing that.
I don’t purchase sheet masks on the regular; I usually only use them when I get them in subscription boxes. But I think if I wanted an extra treat in my routine, I’d consider buying a box of these.
La Roche Posay Anthelios Melt-In Milk Sunscreen SPF 100*:
This sunscreen from La Roche Posay isn’t new to me. I have used it multiple times in that past, and it’s one of my favorite sunscreens. It’s super lightweight and is comfortable on the skin. The consistency feels silky and smooth, and because it’s so thin, it blends into the skin flawlessly. It’s a non irritating SPF, so it should be suitable for most skin types. And something I love about this one is that it’s a mineral sunscreen that works for deep skin as well, which is hard to find.
I haven’t actually used up this sample yet. But I’m working through another SPF at the moment. However, I am considering this of value, because I 100% will use it in its entirety.
Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask*
Luxury products create a bit of a paradox for me. On one hand, I want to like them, because they’re so expensive. If they’re going to come with a high price tag, they better be worth it. On the other hand, I don’t want to like them, because if I do, I’m going to want to buy them again. Guys … I really like this. It’s good. I use it as an overnight hydrating mask, and my skin looks so healthy and hydrated when I wake up. It feels amazing applied on the skin. And it’s one of those products that just feels luxurious as you’re applying it.
I’m in the process of comparing it to two of my other favorite hydrating overnight masks — the Fresh Black Tea Firming Overnight Mask* and the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Hydrating Mask*. They’re all a little bit different, but I like the hydration I get from each. So I’m trying to decide if the Sisley Cream Mask* is worth a repurchase. But it’s a good mask, in my opinion.

Christophe Robin Daily Hair Cream*
I’m on a hair journey. So I’m reluctant to try a lot of new hair products. However, I was intrigued with this hair cream from Christophe Robin — especially after I used their scalp scrub* and enjoyed it. I don’t wash my hair everyday; I go about once a week, maybe twice. So I haven’t gotten a ton of use from this, honestly. And I can’t speak to long-term results. But I do enjoy using this, especially on days I’m air drying. Though I use it on my dry hair and while blow drying as well.
Unlike some hair creams, this is very lightweight and non greasy, which is great for my fine hair. It tends to get weighed down by a lot of hair products. When air drying or blow drying, this hair cream leaves my hair smooth and soft without any frizz. And when using this on dry hair, my hair doesn’t get greasy or sticky. The cream dries really quickly and leaves my dry hair looking and feeling hydrated and soft. Not to mention the smell is great; I love sandalwood.
Box Value vs. My Value
The last part of the February Allure Beauty Box Review is actually breaking down the box value vs. my own personal value. So let’s see what that looks like. Shall we?
The Allure Beauty Box costs $23. February’s box value totaled $240. That’s a huge value! But the question I posed in the last review was: would I have gotten value from these products outside of the context of an Allure Beauty Box Unboxing? And that’s the thing I love about the February Allure Beauty Box Review, or any month for that matter. It lets me separate myself from the thrill of unboxing new goodies and really take a look at them to see if 1) I’d have even been possessed to buy this in the first place or 2) I even find value in the products I receive.
In the case of the February Beauty Box, I was wildly impressed. I fully enjoy and intend to use in their entirety every product but one. The Floss lip balm ($18) didn’t wow me, but I do plan to keep it around as a boost of hydration when I need it. I’m teetering on whether or not I’ll ever purchase the Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask ($166.) I really like it, but it is very pricey. And who’d have thought I’d fall in love with a hair mask ($43.)
Box Value Breakdown:
- Floss Lip Balm – $18
- UBeauty Resurfacing Compound – $148
- Madeca Sheet Mask – $2
- La Roche Posay SPF – $1
- Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask – $28
- Christophe Robin Hair Mask – $48
My personal value: $240
I’m trying to be a smarter consumer in 2021, especially when it comes to beauty products. That’s why I wanted to approach my Allure Beauty Box subscription a little differently this year compared to past years. I want to know if I’m actually finding real value in the products I’m receiving from the box or if I’m just keeping my subscription for the serotonin boost I get from opening the box.
I think it’s safe to say the February Allure Beauty Box Review proved that at least February’s box was valuable to me. I’m loving or will use every product received, which is great! I’m excited to see what’s in March’s box.
