Every year I get asked countless times what I want for Christmas. Sometimes I have specific gifts, like new two-toned riding boots, in mind, but more often than not I don’t have a clue. And that uncertainty stresses me out, because I don’t know what to tell the person asking. But in my thinking, I realized there are a handful of things I love receiving as gifts simply so I don’t have to buy them myself.
Notebooks
I’m an old school soul who likes hand written to-do lists, shopping lists, and do a lot of brainstorming on paper. Therefore, I go through a ton of notebooks. And you’d think that I’d be totally cool buying them since I cycle through them so frequently, but I don’t. You could gift me a college ruled Mead notebook, and I’d be satisfied. But beautiful notebooks make for an amazing gift. I’ve linked a few that I am loving right now below. You don’t have to buy them for me, but maybe you have someone who loves notebooks on your list or want a new one yourself.
Blankets
If I walk into your house and you don’t have any throw blankets around, I’m initially judging you and adding it to my shopping list for your next birthday. I’m someone who is always cuddled up in a blanket, and there are so many good ones one the market. Give me a woven blanket, a good waffle knit, anything goes. I will never not be happy opening up a new throw.
Candles
Another thing that’s always around myself are delicious candles. Now, while I have no problem buying them for myself (I just splurged on a candle from Replica that I did not tell Isaac about *wink*), but they’re still something I always appreciate as gifts. Now, a lot of people are nervous to gift candles because scent is such a personal preference. But I’ll give you a tip. Unscented candle in a beautiful jar = smiles all around. You can get a container that matches any style, and the scent will never clash or be too much. There’s just something about the life of a lit flame.
Gourmet Fruits/Foods
This might sound weird, but it’s really something I appreciate. You know how you can perfect homemade takeout, but it’s not as good as the restaurant? This is kind of like that, kind of. When I was working in retail, every year one our customers would send pears from Harry & David. You might think you’d open a box of pears and the “it’s a avocado … thanks” meme flashes. But it doesn’t! They look juicy and sweet, and they tasted that way, too. I mean, it doesn’t have to be pears. But you can always please me with a box of Harry & David pears.
Events
I mean, I spend my own money on events. But I can only bring myself to do it so often — I mean, it can get pricey. Isaac (my bf, if you’re new here) has gifted me tons of events in the past like Taylor Swift concert tickets and Disney on Ice Tickets. And while we are notoriously bad at making it to events on time because of traffic (there’s literally always unexpected traffic when we are going somewhere), it’s a good gift for someone else!
