Hello friends. How are we doing? For the past few weeks at home, I have been bouncing back and forth between being super productive and the total opposite. Today I’m feeling pretty good, so I wanted to take advantage. I have been meaning to write and post this review of the new Glossier* Skywash lid tints* for a while, and I’m finally getting to it. So here we go.
The Basics
In typical Glossier, less-is-more, fashion, the Skywash lid tints are a liquid to powder formula* that offers a soft wash of color to your eye. Per the brand, the formula is ophthalmologist and dermatologist tested and is long-lasting (up to 12 hours!) and smudge-proof.
Glossier Skywash is currently available in 7 shades inspired by Southwestern landscapes and retails for $18 a pop.
Skywash is gluten-free, vegan, cruelty-free, and formulated without fragrance, making it an option for those with especially sensitive skin.
The Shade Range
When I first saw the initial promo photos for Skywash, I knew 1) I had to have these and 2) I was obsessed with the colors.

As previously mentioned, Skywash comes in 7 Southwestern inspired colors:
- Lawn – fresh green
- Valley – warm peach
- Terra – burnt sienna
- Palm – golden beige
- Pebble – neutral taupe
- Pool – cornflower blue
- Echo – cocoa brown
I purchased Echo and Pool.

The Review
If you are looking for intense color, keep looking. This isn’t it. But if all you’re looking for is an effortless and subdued wash of color across the lid, you might really like these.
While I was waiting for my shipment to come in, I heard a few reviews raving about these. But I also heard quite a few reviews complaining that the application was quite patchy and difficult to apply. I respectfully disagree.
Application, Longevity + Patchiness
The way I like to apply the Glossier Skywash tints are with my finger. I will apply the product from the wand to the back of my hand and apply it to my lid with my ring finger. But I have also applied them directly from wand to my lid and blended them with a brush and got similar results. I find they are easy to blend, and once they set, they aren’t going anywhere. Honestly, I was shocked with how long-lasting these were.
As for the comments about patchiness, I think that had more to do with how it was being applied than it did with the actual formula. I did notice if I initially went in with a heavy layer of color, it tended to become patchy in areas, especially the blue color. But if I work in light layers, I’m able to build up the color and keep it looking seamless.
While these definitely are not swipe and go products, and you do need to learn how to use them, I was really happy with the result.
Pool vs. Echo
I generally enjoy these shadows. However, between the two I purchased, I much prefer one over the other. Echo gave me an even, pigmented, and effortless application of brown. I felt it complemented my features well, and it is my favorite for sure.
Pool isn’t my favorite, if I’m being honest. What I don’t like about it is the same reason I didn’t buy Lawn, that trendy green shade I can’t get enough of right now. Pool is pretty, don’t get me wrong. But it offers such a sheer wash of color on the eye, that it just doesn’t give me the punchy color I want when I reach for a matte cornflower blue like this.
I’m not necessarily saying this is a con in the product or the color. It’s just a personal preference to have a little more vividly pigmented formula with colors like this.
