Raise your hand if you love nail art but either don’t have the nails for it or the time/skill to do it. *Raises hand* Fortunately I was blessed with good nails that grow strong and long when I want them to, so much so I get asked if they’re fake. However, I never want to sit down and actually put any kind of design on m y nail. I usually do at-home manicures in something solid (which I like.) But sometimes I want something fancy, something cool and contemporary, and something detailed. I find this to be especially true in the summertime. But I always opt out of it because I don’t want to sit down and take the time to create anything interesting. Or I do, and it turns out terribly. Rebecca Minkoff and imPRESS recently collaborated on a collection of press-on nails, and it raised my eyebrows and had me perusing the site. And today we’re reviewing the imPRESS press-on nails. Specifically the Le French Pop set.
Like my natural nails, I was fortunate enough to work with imPRESS for this blog. I was able to pick out a few styles to try out and review, and I’ve got some thoughts.
the designs
While selecting my styles, I found it really difficult because they have so many cute nails sets on their site. Really, there’s something for everyone. There’s very chic and trendy styles, minimal and classic styles, very glam and attention-grabbing styles. And there’s various shapes and lengths, so everyone will be able to find something to work for them. There’s even pedicure sets and petite sets for smaller nail beds.
And they’re affordable to boot, ranging from about $6-$11.
the application
Application on these babies was really simple. I have tried those nail wrap things in the past, and it ended horribly for me–and by horribly I mean bumpy and uneven. But with the imPRESS nails, it’s a matter of sticking them in place.
Your nail set comes with literally everything you need for application. I started by pushing back the cuticle with the provided tool, filing down any ridges on the nail itself (again, tool provided) (& in my case, my nails were too long for the style I was wearing that day, so I shaped my own nails, too.) And then used the provided alcohol pad to cleanse the nail of any oil that may interfere with the adhesive.
From there, you just select the appropriate nail in the size you need (they’re conveniently numbered which made finding the matching nails for the other side super easy), peel off the plastic backing, and apply the nail to your own.
Seriously, it was so easy.
I would suggest leaving your thumbs for last. It just made overall application significantly easier.
the wear
I want to preface this section by saying I am rough AF on my nails. I’m always typing, because all of my jobs are online, and I’m generally just clumsy and am used to my real nails which are virtually indestructible.
The first time I wore a set, they lasted about 30 minutes. The second time, however, I used a glue which lasted a lot longer. While I removed them after about 3 days, they would have stayed put for at least a week.
The next time, I pressed the set on, and it lasted a lot longer, a few hours. However, I wasn’t typing all day or doing any housework.
I think if I were going to an event and wanted to wear press-on nails, the imPRESS press-on nails would work just fine and look great for a few hours.
the bottom line
Though I personally won’t be wearing press-on nails often, I really like these. And I think you will too. If you’re someone who doesn’t love their nails and wants something easy, cute, and creative for an event or photos, the imPRESS press-on nails are going to work out great for you. If you want like 2 week long wear, try some glue or look into a glue-on situation like any of the styles from imPRESS’s sister site, KISS.
Do you guys wear press-on nails or any other kind of fake nails?
