It’s a new year. Is the Allure Beauty Box still worth the money? We’re going to find out this year with our unboxings! And today we’re tackling the January Allure Beauty Box Unboxing.
A few months ago, Allure changed the structure of their Beauty Box subscription. They bumped the price from $15 to $23. But they promise more items, more full-size items, and a higher value per box. So the rundown: For $23, you’ll get 6+ Allure Editor approved beauty items (at least 3 full size and a $100+ value) delivered right to your door. You also receive a mini-mag in every box with members only discount codes and tips for each product featured. And new members will receive a welcome gift valued at at least $15. You can sign up for the Allure Beauty Box using my referral code here. Or you can sign up on your own.
I haven’t quite figured out what special complementary content will accompany the Allure Box uboxings this year. I’m thinking monthly reviews of the products in each box after I’ve used them for a while? And at the end of the year, I want to go over the value. If you have any ideas, let me know in the comments. But in the meantime, let’s see what is the January Allure Beauty Box.
[ makeup ]
True + Luscious Super Moisture Lipstick: I have never used anything from this brand. But I love finding new lipstick formulas to love. I’ve only swatched this one on the back of my hand, but I think I’m really going to get on with it. I got the shade Vintage Rose, which is beautiful. And swatched on my hand, it was opaque and went on smooth. It also felt really hydrating in the swatch. I’m looking forward to play with this one. (Full size in box, $22.)
The Beauty Crop Blush Duo in Mauve-ulous: Gabriela Thorne, an editorial assistant at Allure, selected this product. She said that because of her deep skin tone, she finds it difficult to find blush colors that suit her complexion and that she tends to go toward bright hues. And boy is this one bright. But I do think I can make this work on my fair skin, too, especially the cream side. I have some thoughts on this just from looking at it in the packaging, but I’m going to save that for a recap review next month. Stay tuned for that. (Full size in box, $10.)
Baseblue Airsponge Full Coverage: I love trying new makeup sponges, because I do think it can be a beautiful way to apply product. This one feels like velvet, and I’m so excited to get it on my face. And it’s only $6! So if it’s good … (Full size in box, $7.)
[ skin ]
Saturday Skin Rub-A-Dub Refining Peel Gel*: At first I thought this was one of those peel off masks, which I hate. But it’s not. This is one of those products that is supposed to visibly remove dead skin as you rub it into your skin. I’ve never used one of those, so I’m skeptical if that’s what it’s actually doing. Like, is it my skin or the product?
But this one has some good ingredients like pineapple and papaya, vitamins A and C which are all good for exfoliation and brightening. I will report back. (Full size in box, $28.)
L’Occitane Immortelle Reset Huile-en-Serum*^: A bottle of this serum is sold every minute, allegedly. I will decide if that is a necessary statistic. This serum is supposed to smooth fine lines, revitalize the skin, and create a smooth, youthful radiance in just one night. I’m skeptical. But we’ll see. I actually have heard really nice things about this product. (Full size $50, Box value, $10.)
^Your box will contain either the L’Occitane Immortelle Reset Huile-en-Serum* or L’Occitane Immortelle Divine Creme*.
[ nails ]
Manime Stick On Gels: I have tried nail wraps before, and I didn’t get on with them. But I am willing to give these a shot, because they’re a little different. I’m going to do a full review on these once I get them, but what makes them different is that you submit pictures of your nails, and these stickers are cut for you specific nail.
In the box, you were given a $30 gift card to use on your choice of one of five of Allure’s favorite styles. (Full size credit in box, $30.)
[ Box total: $107 ]
And that is everything for my January Allure Beauty Box unboxing! I am really pleased with this box. I’m excited to try the nail stickers, sponge, and the True + Luscious lipstick. And I’m excited to see if the L’Occitane serum is worth selling one every minute. I’ll also get back to you about whether or not the facial peel is gimmicky or worth the money.
Again, if you’d like to sign up for the Allure Beauty Box, feel free to use my referral code here. Or you can Google it yourself. It’s $23 for 6+ beauty products, at least 3 full size products, and a value of at least $100 delivered right to your door every month.
