Marc Jacobs Beauty recently launched their Enamored Hydrating Lip Gloss Sticks, and I knew I wanted to try them right away. I mentioned recently I’m a lip gloss newbie, but I’ve enjoyed the Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquers. So I was eager to give these a shot, too. I only purchased one initially, but I definitely want to grab a few more. I think I’ll get a lot of use out of these for the rest of summer into fall.
Today I wanted to chat a little about them and reveal a possible dupe I found from Sephora’s house brand as well.
The Basics
Simply speaking, these are sheer lip glosses in a stick form with a cushiony texture that’s conditioning and offers a high-shine finish. While the formula is in stick form, it melts as soon as it touches your lips and turns into a luxurious gloss that’s not sticky and has a clean minty scent.
I love how hydrated my lips feel when using this. I also tend to get dry bits around my lips, and this doesn’t cling to them at all. What’s interesting to me about the formula of these is that it’s very shimmery but it’s not glittery. When I rub my lips together, it still feels smooth and not gritty, but there’s still an insane amount of shine.
Staying power is not extremely long, so pop these in your purse for easy reapplication.
The Enamored Hydrating Lip Gloss Stick will run you $28 per stick and contains 0.74 oz. of product. They are also cruelty free.
Some fun facts from the Internet about this release:
The shade names are inspired by Marc Jacob’s favorite music. And the shiny finish was inspired by his coffee table–which was finished with 30 coats of lacquer for a high-shine finish.
The Packaging
The packaging on these is extremely consistent with the Marc Jacobs Beauty brand–in fact, it looks identical to the lip glosses. But different. Outwardly they look the same, but it just pulls open instead of twisting. The colored portion will display the color of the product pretty accurately. Inwardly, of course, it’s a twist up stick. You do twist these up to get product, but it does not twist back down. So make sure you don’t get click happy with these, because you’ll ruin your product!
I find Marc Jacob’s packaging to be extremely classy and sophisticated looking. The products in this range are the kind I like to display.
The Shade Selection
While I enjoy the shade range, it’s nothing revolutionary. It’s a pretty basic shade range, but the colors are still really beautiful. There’s 8 shades ranging from light nudes to bright berries to brown.

Shades Top to Bottom:
- Mocha Choco-lata! – pinky nude
- Black Cherry Baby – bronze cherry
- Sweet Escape – pink lemonade
- Uh-Huh Honey – brown sugar shimmer
- Candy Bling – red raspberry
- One Mauve Time – soft berry mauve
- P(reach) – bright apricot
- Sugar Sugar – champagne gold shimmer
I purchased Sugar Sugar as my first pick, because I wanted something light that I could wear over almost any lipstick and take me into fall and winter. While you can run these over the lips a couple of times for more color payoff, I like to just apply this particular shade to the middle of my lips and pat my lips together a time or two. I notice it almost makes my lips look more plump, because of how shiny it is.
The light colors are really nice; however, I swatched these in store and noticed the darker shades being a bit patchy. I don’t think it’ll be a big deal if you’re looking and ok with a sheer formula–especially if you’re applying these over another lip liner or color to begin with.
The Bottom Line
If you don’t like glosses, pass. 100%. If glosses aren’t your thing, you’re going to hate these. They are, after all, still glosses. I think they’re a hit if you want a sheer wash of color with a ton of shine. But if you’re not ok with sheer and you’re not ok with glossy, I don’t recommend. If you are, though, I think these are great. As I said, I want to pick up a few more shades–Mocha Choco-lata! and P(reach) specifically.
The bottom line is I recommend.
Very quickly another review on the Sephora Collection Melting Lip Clicks!
I saw these and thought “that looks like something…” So I bought it. It’s the same idea as the Marc Jacobs Gloss Sticks–sheer lip glosses in stick formula with high shine. This, too, is really moisturizing on the lips and feels smooth and not sticky. The difference though is in how it feels. Marc Jacobs’ product is thick and a little goopy–not in a bad way, but it’s thicker and more shimmery. The Sephora Lip Click is going to be shiny but not shimmery. It’s a little more oily than it is glossy.
The shade selection is smaller but similar. There’s a nude, deep nude, deep berry, peach, and pink. These will run you $14 for .052 oz. of product.
I think you’d like these if you like a product that’s thin and natural looking.
