Happy Monday, friends! Mondays put in an efficiency mindset, which is what inspired this post. Today we are taking a peek inside my every day bag, the products that get the job done, always.
But instead of another post about my Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue (because ya’ll have been reading about that for like a year), I wanted to make it interesting. I’m also going to be featuring a peek inside of Miss West Virginia Madeline Collins’ makeup bag as well!
Let me tell you, if you aren’t keeping up with Madeline, you’re missing out. She’s a real sweetheart and is making waves across WV with her title as Miss WV and Think About It campaign, which brings awareness to mental health issues across the state. We share the view that mental health shouldn’t be stigmatized but noticed. Even if you don’t deal with mental health issues, I guarantee someone you know is. And knowing signs and coping mechanisms can make a big impact in someone’s life, which is why Madeline is working to implement a Mental Health First Aid Course in every WV county.
When asked about the biggest lessons she’s learned while serving as a public figure, she said “Speak your truths. Stay true to yourself. And hug as many kids as possible.” And did I mention she’s a dancer at Disney World!? I mean, she’s amazing! Her makeup is also amazing, and it always has me wondering which products she’s using.
So what’s in Miss WV’s makeup bag? Let’s find out in this fun Q&A.
What are the must-have standouts in your makeup bag?
Madeline Collins:
- One product you’ll never catch me without the Tarte Shape Tape [concealer]. I love it! It is long wearing and brightens my whole face when wearing it!
- I’m also a big fan of the Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder. I use it in conjunction with Shape Tape — together they do wonders.
- Becca Highlight — another go to that gives me the perfect amount of glow without being too much.
- I currently have the Tarte Clean Slate primer in my bag … not the biggest fan. It goes onto my skin crumbly. Thank you, next.
- Elf Eye Shadow Primer — I’m still debating. I feel like I could take it or leave it, but the price makes it lovable. (It’s $2!)
Jacqie Brooks:
- I haven’t been able to put the Chai French Press lip gloss from Bite down! It smells like coffee and is the most beautiful terracotta shade. And it isn’t sticky!
- I also have a Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector but a poured version, in Moonstone. The cream formula is great for the same reason Madeline gave–it gives the perfect amount of glow. But I believe it’s being discontinued, so head over to Becca’s website to get it while you can.
- I have the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue, obviously. But I’ve also broken my Hourglass Vanish Stick out recently. It’s my favorite foundation.
- The NARS Soft Matte Concealer is new to my collection, and so far I’m liking it! It covers what I need it to and cat be sheered out a bit or built up to a fuller coverage.
Are you a one and done makeup gal or do you keep a makeup bag with you at all times?
MC: One I do my makeup in the morning, I don’t usually do any touch ups (thanks Urban Decay Setting Spray!). In my purse, I do keep lipstick or gloss for touch ups.
JB: I don’t really touch up during the day, either. But I do have about 37 lipsticks in my purse.
Anything you have your eye on?
MC: I’m dying to try the Mac Strobe Cream face primer!
JB: Anything from Charlotte Tilbury and also The Silk Canvas primer from Tatcha.
Product you can’t leave the house without:
MC: Lipstick! Even if it’s a natural nude, my lips can’t be naked.
JB: My girl (; ^^^ I always need a lip product.
Favorite part of your makeup routine?
MC: Lipstick and cheeks! I love the look of a good blush color!
JB: Before, I would have said eyes. There’s so much fun to be had with eye shadow. But these days I’ve been focused on base products. I love a dewy base with a lit from within glow.
