I feel like my blog has become a lot of Allure Beauty Box unboxings and little else. Apologies guys. Life is rough. Your girl is working hard on it. But it’s that time of the month — time for an unboxing. And…you guys…the October Allure Beauty Box is good.
Allure just revamped their beauty box subscription. The price increased from $15 to $23. However, they will now include more products, more full-size items, and a higher value. The product selection in the Allure Beauty Box has always seemed higher quality (both brands and products) than other subscription services I have used, even the sample sizes. So I’m really intrigued that they’re now including more products and more full-size products. You can find more info or subscribe by using this link. It is a referral. While you’ll get a special gift, I’ll also receive a kickback in the form of a gift. If you don’t jive with that, just head over to their website.
OK – let’s talk about the October box. The theme is all about showing up on screen. In this weird time we’re living in, there’s a lot more screen time — business calls, social calls, and just having more time in general to spend plugged in. So it’s nice to have some product that makes your face look, and feel, a little alive. So let’s see what this new box for October looks like.
[ makeup ]
Sigma Liquid Lipstick in Venom*: This box isn’t makeup heavy at all. But I’m currently running low on all of my skincare, so honestly these skincare items are pretty appreciated at the moment. But the makeup. We received the Sigma liquid lipstick in Venom, which is a classic red with blue undertones. It’s not a matte matte; it’s more of a velvety satin consistency.
Full size $20* ; Box value $5
[ skincare ]
The Nue Co. Topical C*: My skin loves vitamin C, so I’ve used my fair share of vitamin C infused skincare. But I’m very intrigued by this powder product. It’s a powder you can mix into your other products/water to get the benefit of the ingredient without adding weight to your skincare routine. Vitamin C is good for brightening and smoothing the skin and fine lines. However, too much vitamin C isn’t a good thing. My real qualm with products like this is that you can add way too much and use more than you need. The brand says “2 shakes.” So I’ll have to do a little research. But I am intrigued nonetheless.
Verso Super Eye Serum*: Next up is this Retinol rich eye serum from Verso. The texture of this is super light and feels silky smooth on the skin, which I love. I’ve not used this yet, so I can’t speak to the effects, but if it works as well as it feels, I think I’m in love.
Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Cream*: Allure loves Dr. Jart+. I’ve gotten a lot from the Cicapair line*, which is really good for neutralizing redness. This Ceramidin cream uses ceramides so your skin can best retain all of the moisture you’re getting from your other skincare. This also feels amazing on the skin and spreads like butter. I’m really looking forward to using this.
Full size $48* ; Box value $9.60
La Roche-Posay Lipikar Balm AP+*: La Roche-Posay is another favorite at Allure. Luckily I like them too. Their products are simple and to the point, which makes them good for a lot of people. The Lipikar Balm is a rich and creamy moisturizing cream that isn’t scented and gentle enough for sensitive skin yet effective enough to get rid of dry patches. I’ve used this on my psoriasis, and I really like the way it makes those areas feel.
Full size $19.99* ; Box value $0.75
Wilma Schuman Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads*: Your girl doesn’t sleep. It’s a real problem. But the dark circles and puffiness under my eyes is a whole other problem. Enter these eye patches. The gel is cooling, and the pads are soaked in a cocktail of hyaluronic acid and hydrolyzed collagen to help temporarily plump the skin.
Full size $18 for 5 sets* ; Box value $3.60 (for one set)
[ nails ]
Static Nails Liquid Glass Lacquer in Irene: I have never used Static Nails polish, but it is a brand that’s been on my radar. I always see their ads on Instagram, and the colors look nice. I like the packaging and think it’s sleek. I’m excited to try this one. Irene is a dusty rose color. And the color is almost identical to my beloved Dior Incognito. At least it is in the bottle. I haven’t used it on the nails yet, but it may be a dupe. I’ll definitely report back on this one.
[ hair ]
Rusk Pure Mix Native Fig Replenishing Shampoo*/Conditioner*: I used to hate getting samples of shampoo and conditioner in foil packets. And while I still don’t prefer them, I have found myself not minding having one or two in my stash. Have you ever run out of shampoo unexpectedly? It’s nice to have something. The Native Fig replenishing formula contains a blend of fig, vitamins C, E, and calcium to gently cleanse and replenish hair’s moisture levels while it softens and detangles. It’s sulfate, paraben, silicone, artificial colorant, gluten, and cruelty free. And while I don’t know, I feel like it smells really good.
Full size $18 (shampoo* and conditioner*, sold separately) ; Box value $0.61 each
[ Total Box Value ~$171 ]
So what do I think of this revamped October Allure Beauty Box? Honestly, I think the best is yet to come. I’m excited to use the eye serum and try the vitamin C powder, both were high ticket, full-size items. I’ll get use out of the other skincare samples and get on well with the lipstick from Sigma. And I’m excited by a potential dupe for my favorite nail polish! I’d say the October Allure Beauty Box is worth it. Make sure to come back next month to see what November’s box will bring! What do you think of this month’s Allure box?
