Raise your hand if you love a good sale. Same. The time has come for the 1st SEPHORA VIB sale of the year. SEPHORA typically runs two major sale events throughout the year, once in the spring and once in the fall. And it’s time for the spring sale event. I love doing these VIB sale recommendation posts, because it allows me to talk about products I have been loving or am eyeing. However, because I do at least two of these posts per year, it gets incredibly redundant. I don’t want to just recommend the same products over and over again, so I really try to put a unique spin on each recommendations post I do. This SEPHORA VIB Sale Recommendations post is going to be all about some empties I plan on replacing in the sale.

Empties I Am Replacing in the SEPHORA VIB Sale

The Empty: Gucci L’Obscur Mascara*
The Replacement: Gucci L’Obscur Mascara
I have fallen in lust with every product Gucci has released, and I have fallen in love with every product I’ve tried. And this mascara swiftly became one of my favorite mascara formulas of all time. The packaging is incredibly beautiful — in a really simple, peachy pink packaging and gold lid. I love seeing this on my counter. But the formula is beautiful as well. One coat gives my lashes a black pigment and lengthened lashes. Two or three coats give me that editorial, spidery lash look I love. I don’t notice a ton of flaking or smudging — a little, toward the end of the day, but nothing that’s abnormal for me. I haven’t been able to be without this lately.
The Empty: NARS Climax Extreme Mascara*
The Replacement: Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes Volume 2 Mascara*
Last year, I tried the NARS Climax mascara*, in the red tube. At first, I hated it Absolutely hated it. It was too wet, smudged too much, and just wasn’t worth it. But after a few weeks, I reached for it again and was smitten. It gave my lashes a ton of volume and length. So when I ran out of it, I went with the NARS Climax Extreme* version, in the black tube. I had a feeling I wasn’t going to to get on with it, because of the brush. Those oversized brushes aren’t my favorite. I always wind up getting product all over my lids. And the formula on this one just wasn’t the same. I, again, got a ton of smudging and flakes. And it didn’t do anything crazy extreme for my lashes. I ended up tossing it before it was gone or expired.
I’m going to pick up something new in the SEPHORA VIB sale, the Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes Volume 2 mascara*. I’ve heard really great things about this one. I’ve liked a lot of the Charlotte Tilbury products I’ve tried, and the claims on this mascara seem to be right up my alley — volume & thickening. And the wand is that hair bristle, straight wand I love.

The Empty: Laneige Cream Skin Milk Oil Cleanser*
The Replacement: Kora Organics Milky Mushroom Gentle Cleansing Oil*
I’m all about the double cleanse, and I love a good cleansing oil to remove makeup. I picked up the Laneige Milk Oil Cleanser* a few months ago. My first thought about it was that there was no way it was going to remove my makeup. It’s definitely a milky consistency. I thought it’d be a moisturizing cleanser moment, but I didn’t think it’d fly as a first cleanse. Boy, oh, boy. This does exactly what it’s intended to do. It is such an effective makeup remover. I apply a little to my dry face, rub in in gentle, circular motions, including the eye area. Then I take a reusable cotton pad or soft wash cloth and wipe to remove. And it takes all the makeup with it. Sometimes I will have to go in again if I’m wearing a lot of makeup that day, but it’s so effective.
And I know I’m ranting on and on about how great this product is, and it truly is. But I do want to try something new. Cleansing oils are one of those products I just like to test out. I’m always looking for the next big thing. So I’m going to pick up the Kora Organics Milky Mushroom Gentle Cleansing Oil*. I’m not familiar with this brand at all, but I’m going to give it a shot. Marketing for this claims it transforms from an oil to a milky texture that will remove makeup and hydrate the skin. It’s formulated with Sunflower Seed oil to help remove oil and dirt, Babassu Oil to nourish, soften, and smooth, and Silver Ear Mushroom to help with moisture retention. And guys, my skin is dry AF these days.
The Empty: The Inkey List Peptide Moisturizer*
The Replacement: Cadualie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet*
I’m almost finished with the Peptide Moisturizer* from The Inkey List, and I like it ok. It’s very simple and to the point without any frills. I find it to be moisturizing, and I love how inexpensive it is. However, I don’t love using it in the morning under makeup. And I just want to try something new. So I think I’m going to replace it with the Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet*. It has good reviews on SEPHORA, and I enjoy Caudalie as a brand as it is. I’m hoping this will be hydrating enough, even though it’s a gel formula.
The Empty: Kate Somerville EradiKate Daily Cleanser Acne Treatment*
The Replacement: Dr. Zenovia Benzoyl Peroxide Cleanser*
I went off the pill about a year and a half ago, and my skin had a very hard time adjusting. My skin got a little more dry than usual, but I didn’t notice any major breakouts. But a few months in, and that all changed, for the worse. I started experiencing painful, cystic breakouts. And I’ve always had generally unproblematic skin, so I had nothing in my skincare cabinet to deal with it. So I purchased the EradiKate cleanser* to start helping combat some of the blemishes. It uses sulfur to target acne and blemishes. However, I don’t think I really care for this at all. I think most of my results came from treatment products, not this cleanser. But I used it until it was gone.
At this moment, I’m dealing with another bad, hormonal breakout. I need to figure out how to get it under control, and this is my start. Over the past year, I’ve noticed my skin doesn’t care for salicylic acid, so I want to try benzoyl peroxide to treat my acne instead. The Benzoyl Peroxide Cleanser* from Dr. Zenovia contains 10% benzoyl peroxide and aloe vera to soothe the skin.
Let’s be honest, this isn’t the sexiest SEPHORA VIB Sale recommendations list. But it’s an honest one. I mean, hey, sometimes you just need a new cleanser! While I haven’t fully decided what I’m picking up during the sale, I know I have already added these products to my cart. I do have a sexier SEPHORA VIB Sale recommendations post coming. I’ll be walking through my current everyday makeup favorites that you may want to pick up on a discount. I’ll link that here when ready.
