The 8 Summer Accessories I’m Swooning Over

As much as I love fashion and the creativity that comes with it, I’ve never been much of an accessories gal. Generally speaking, my style is a little more on the classic, simplistic style. But I really am trying to venture outside of my comfort zone lately. I don’t know if it’s the weather heating up or the fact I’ve been finding so many good belts at the thrift store, but summer accessories have been fun!

Today I want to talk about 8 summer accessories I’m currently swooning over.

Padded & Knotted Headbands

Headbands can be polarizing for me. They can either make me feel ultra chic or like a soccer mom. There is no in between. But nonetheless, they’re making a comeback.

The two headband varieties I’ve been inspired by for summer are both padded and knotted headbands. Padded headbands are posh and luxe while knotted headbands are a little more casual and cool. But I’m loving both and hoping to add a few to my summer rotation

Resin Hair Clips

As you know, I’ve been struggling with my hair for months. Essentially it’s limp, flat, and dull these days. But I have been loving giving my strands a loose curl and pairing it with statement, resin hair clips.

Ah, they are so trendy.

Scarf Scrunchies

For someone whose hair is the cause of many insecurities, I sure have been into hair accessories for summer. My sister made fun of me when I came home from the mall last year or so with scrunchies in tow, and now, ironically, she has a ton of them. They’ve become trendy and fast.

What I love about the scarf scrunchies is that they are just as gentle on your hair (which is a win for my fine strands) and add a little, feminine touch.

Retro Sunglasses

Styles always come back around, and we’re seeing a ton of retro sunglasses shapes. Cat eye sunglasses (one of my faves) are perfect for elongating the face and emphasizing cheekbones. And round lenses can be incredibly glamorous.

Cognac Belts

When I was younger, I always hated having to wear a belt. But my pants were too big, and it was my only option. Which is funny to me, because now I can’t get enough of belts as an accessory. I look for them every time I go thrifting.

I love how a cognac colored belt looks against summer colors. It’s not as stark as black, not as professional as dark brown, but is still a neutral and classic.

Statement Earrings

I’ve gone through a statement necklace phase, statement bracelet phase, and I’ve even gone through a statement earrings phase. But I’m back into statement earrings in a different way than before.

My previous phase was very much about a statement color or tassels, fringe, or stones. This phase is all about the conversation–the more interesting the better.

Woven Bags

Woven bags scream summer to me. I love the organic texture the fabric adds to a look and the casual but sophisticated vibe they exude. For summer 2019, the woven bag trend has gone from easy, breezy beach accessorizing to structured, ladylike functionality.

Woven Sandals

Like woven bags, woven sandals add just the right amount of organic texture that makes any outfit look sophisticated and beachy cool. While I love a good wedge sandal, I’ve particularly been enjoying woven slides. They’re so easy and go with everything!
