Ya’ll, my time has come (i.e.: my favorite time of year.) The weather is better; the snacks are better; the smells are better; the fashion is better. Can you tell I love the season? So today we’re doing a tag post all about fall: The Autumn Tag. There was a little autumnal tag floating around–that I totally wasn’t tagged to do, but saw Lindsey at Cozy Stylist do it and was inclined to follow. It works well, because I was at a little loss of what to post this week, so this is perfect.
Here it goes: everything I love about fall. And I tag YOU. Let me know your answers in the comments. (:
What signifies the start of autumn for you?
This year, fall technically began on 21 September, but the fall season begins promptly on 1 September for me. The pumpkin earrings come out of the jewelry box, the sweaters get worn (even though it was still hot AF this September), and the comfort food gets made!
What is your favorite autumn scent?
I like earthy, smoky, and cozy scents in the fall. A few of my favorites:
- Maison Margiela ‘REPLICA’ By the Fireplace candle — it smells exactly like that! It’s woody, smoky, and subtly sweet.
- P.F. Candle Co. Amber & Moss — It’s earthy but fresh with notes of musk, lavender, sage, amber, and orange (one of my fave fall scents)
- BBW Leaves — I’m a Sweater Weather bitch as much as the next candle lover, but I like Leaves just a little more. It features crisp red apple, golden nectar, and warm clove spice. Mmmm
What is your favorite autumn color?
I’m going to call it Black Dahlia, because it is the color of a beautiful flower of the same name. I like fall colors the best — the rusts, olives, navies, and burgundies–but I love the unconventional yet fitting pop of purple. It’s deep enough to be cozy, bright enough to make you feel lively, and such a delicate but strong color. This is actually the main color I decorate my home with in the fall months.
Are you a fan of a Pumpkin Spice Latte?
No ma’am. If we’re talking Starbucks drinks, I always go for a Chestnut Praline latte, hot.
What is your favorite autumn drink?
Hot apple cider. Maybe Irish coffee, at a second place.
What’s your favorite coffee shop and drink of choice?
This is my first autumn back in my hometown in over 5 years! So I haven’t found my favorite place quite yet. But in previous years, my favorite has been Tutto Gelato (RIP) in Morgantown, WV — get the toasted marshmallow latte. Yum! Update: Wheeling Coffee (Wheeling, WV); either the Extreme Toffee Coffee or Butter Rum or Irish Cream flavored blend.
Apple pie or Pumpkin pie?
Apple pie. 100%
What is your favorite Halloween movie or TV show?
I have a big ole list of classics I love: The Addams Family, Halloweentown, Twitches, and Beetlejuice, to name a few.
What is your favorite autumn fashion trend?
Right now, I’m really loving the easy ’70s vibe we saw on some of the runways for Fall 2020 like Veronica Beard and Etro. Specifically, though, I’m loving the look of breezy doll dresses with leather knee high boots. Very Alexis Rose.
What’s your favorite comfort food to enjoy in the colder months?
My homemade chicken noodle soup!
What’s your favorite autumn activity?
My sisters & I or my BFF & I go on Halloween vacations, so that’s something I always look forward to. We’ve gone to Salem, MA a few times and Gettysburg, PA.
I also love going apple picking and snuggling up at home with some cider, lit candles, and warm blankets, and a chilly evening.
Are you a fan of horror movies?
No. Well…sometimes. I’m picky. I like thrillers.
Do you ever do anything fun for Halloween?
Yes! We’ve been going to spooky locations for Halloween for the past few years. A few future locations on my radar are: New Orleans, LA; Halloweentown (St. Helen, OR); and Sleepy Hollow, NY.
If you have any recommendations, send them my way! The more history involved, the better. And I’m all about the witches.
What was your favorite part about Halloween as a child?
I loved the Halloween parade we had at school! The whole school dressed up in their costumes, and we’d parade around the few surrounding blocks. Then we’d come back and have a big Halloween party for the rest of the day. My favorite costume was when I went as a laundry basket. Yeah…
Bonfire night or Halloween?
Bonfire night on Halloween.
Where is your dream destination to visit in the autumn?
I have this dream of getting all cozy in Amsterdam in the autumn. The canals, the coffee shops, it all sounds so nice.
Do you always forget about the clocks going back?
Every year.
When do you usually start preparing for Christmas?
The day after Thanksgiving. 1 December is basically Christmas.
Like I said, I love a fun little tag. And The Autumn Tag was a stress-free thing to post and talk about my favorite season of the year. So I tag you to fill in your own version of The Autumn Tag — either on your own blog or in the comments below.
