It seems we have skipped spring this year. We went straight from single to triple digits, and I think we’ve all broken out the summer wardrobe earlier than usual. You guys loved my spring trend roundup, so I wanted to deliver the hottest summer trends for 2018!
Honestly, we’re going to be seeing a lot of similar trends that we saw in spring but with their own summery uniqueness. If you can’t stop thinking about the warm weather, keep scrolling for a round up of the hottest trends we’ll see this summer.
The Basket Bag
Woven materials are, in my opinion, a quintessential summer staple. Very Jane Birkin. I love the organic, earthy texture and feel they bring to every look. You can pair them with sundresses, trousers and blouses, shorts, skirts. Regardless, you’re going to get an effortlessly chic outcome.
Yellow
As I said, we’re going to see some borrowed spring tends for summer 2018. Where bold colors were popular for spring, yellow specifically is going to be a winner for summer. And I’m loving it! Yellow adds such a sunshiny, good vibe, happy feeling to your look. You can’t help but have a kick ass summer in yellow!
Buttons
When we saw Meghan Markle in a button detailed dress, I knew it would be a HUGE trend for summer, and I am in love with it. The detail adds a very sartorial and sophisticated touch. While it doesn’t sound particularly exciting at first, the button-adorned trend delivers a vintage and chic result.
Botanical Prints
I’ve always had a sweet spot for the botanical print variety. And it’s no surprise we’re going to see a ton of it this summer. But more specifically, we’re going to be seeing topical botanical prints–leaves, tropical flowers, etc. I quite enjoy the green twist and love adding an element of nature to an outfit. It’s a little bit of a twist on a classic.
Gingham
Another classic summer print, gingham. Is it even summer if you aren’t draped in gingham? I don’t think it is.
Lilac
Lilac was insanely popular for spring, and I’m enthralled that it’s sticking around for summer. It’s such a punchy but soft color, and it complements other popular summer colors like yellow, green, and pink extremely well.
PVC Plastic
Step aside Jelly Sandals, there’s a new plastic accessory in town–the PVS plastic bags. I love the look of these bags. This trend gives you the novelty of the jelly flat but with a little more sophistication. It lets you play with an unconventional fabric while still looking put together.
