One of the most requested types of content I receive is thrifting posts! It’s no secret how much I love the treasure hunt of a thrift store. You can find so many unique, trendy pieces for a generally low price tag. It’s also more sustainable than shopping mainstream, especially with fast fashion retailers.
Today’s post is a fun one. Not only are we talking about thrifting spring’s fashion trends. This post is also in collaboration with my friend Lindsey over at the Cozy Stylist. If you aren’t familiar with her blog, you’re missing out. The Cozy Stylist is all about living a stylish and comfortable life, and Lindsey takes you along as she navigates the fashion world (in the comfiest way possible).
On my site, we’re talking about thrifting spring trends, but on her site she’s showing you where you can shop spring’s hottest fashion trends while supporting sustainable retail locations! Check out her post here!
the trends
I could do an entire post on all the ways thrifting is sustainable, but today we’re just going to focus on finding the trends. A few weeks ago, I posted about my favorite trends for spring, and that’s what I’m working with today. So make sure you skim that one, but for a guide we are thrifting: bleached denim, beige, green, and bows.
Because thrift stores vary from city to city (mine were not too hot this month), I’m looking to Thred Up for my thrift picks. That’s right, you can still shop secondhand online without leaving your couch, and Thred Up makes it easy.
1 | bleached denim
When writing my overview of my favorite springs trends a few weeks ago, I chose the trends I did not only because they are my favorite but because they are easy to find at the thrift store. First up…bleached denim.
A lot of people crinkle their noses at an all denim look. I think they’re wrong, but I get it. It’s not for everybody. But what’s great about this trend is that it can be worn head to toe or broken up in pieces.
what to look for when thrifting:
When at the thrift store, take a look through the jeans. You want to look for the wash and the fit in the waist. You can always turn a pair of jeans too big in the leg to an acid washed pair of cutoff shorts. Also, don’t forget to peek through jackets, blazers, and tops. The thrift store is always full of denim button downs, tank tops, and jackets!
2 | bows
Spring always brings out my feminine side. I gravitate toward florals and pastels, and this year…BOWS! Personally, I’m all about the over-the-top bow blouses seen at the Marc Jacobs and Celine shows, but there is something sweet about a small, subtle bow.
what to look for when thrifting:
I’ve found the easiest place to find bows at the thrift store is in the blouse section. A lot of vintage tops have bows around the neck or on the sleeves. But don’t underestimate shoes and bags! If you’re looking for an understated way to incorporate bows, your accessories are a great place to start.
3 | head to toe beige
Maybe my favorite and possibly the easiest to find thrifting is the head to toe beige trend. Beige is often seen as a bit boring, but this season the head to toe, 50 shades of beige look is trendy and chic.
what to look for when thrifting:
Trousers and blazers. I think everyone needs a good pair of beige trousers and an oversized beige blazer, and the thrift store is the perfect place to find them. When trying on blazers, you want to make sure they fit in the shoulders and through the arms; otherwise you’ll look like you’re a kid playing dress up in your dad’s suit jacket.
4 | pistachio
Color trends are some of the easiest to find when thrifting, because all you have to do is see it. You don’t have to inspect for details. We saw a ton of mint on the runways for Spring 2019, and though I’m not extremely into green, I’ve really been feeling it. It’s fresh and vibrant without being too offensive and in your face.
what to look for when thrifting:
Color baby! I find there are loads of greens in pants, skirts, tops but also in shoes and bags.
So there you have it, my advice on shopping 4 spring trends at the thrift store! Make sure you head over to Lindsey’s post for sustainable options for spring trends!

Thank you! I’ve been shopping at thrift stores before I really started paying attention, but it is so easy to find trends if you know what you’re looking for! It’s such a fun hunt (:
