It is officially fall! Well, technically we have a couple more days, but in the fashion world, fall promptly starts September 1. Fall fashion is by far my favorite, and this year I’m even more excited than usual.
Today we’re talking about some of my favorite fashion trends for Fall 2019 and giving you some major fall fashion inspo. Be sure to let me know which trend is your fave for fall in the comments.
– color trends –
I like to start with color trends, because they’re easy to shop and easy to thrift. You just look for the color! This season, in addition to the typical fall colors, it’s all about purple and pistachio. I’m talking head to toe color.
Lavender — I mentioned lavender in spring of 2018, so it’s been around for a while. And it definitely isn’t going anywhere for Fall 2019. Look for lavenders, lilacs, or royal purples. The runways showed it in a few different ways — ethereal, soft, and dreamy and then bold, eye-catching, and statement-making.
Since it’s traditionally a pretty spring color, incorporating lavender into your fall wardrobe is all about the color palette. You can go head to toe, to make a bold, colorful statement, and look for a mixture of various purple shades or look for the same shade for a monochromatic look. Or you can pair purple with fall camels, browns, and olives.
Currently, I have a beautiful silk blouse that I want to pair with a pair of high-waisted, camel trousers and a purple, floral blazer I want to pair with a pair of dark brown, suede pants.
You can find lavender earrings, blazers, heels, bags, and of course skirts and pants, blouses, or sweaters.
Pistachio — The other big color trend for Fall 2019 is pistachio. We dove into green last season, but it was a little punchier. Everything was lime and sage green. Pistachio is a little warmer, a little earthier. But again it’s about head to toe color.
By embracing the color, I think the head to toe looks ultra luxe. You can mix different textures–sweaters and knits, satins, tweeds, etc.
I just passed on a pistachio blazer at Goodwill during my last thrift trip, and I’m kicking myself.

Satin — I have a strong nostalgia for the ’90s, so I love that the ’90s are back. For Fall 2019, we’re revisiting the satin of the decade–satin slip dresses, blouses, the works.
Prep School — I’m a slut for plaid in the fall. And it’s getting preppy for Fall 2019. Prep school or Bourgeoisie Z is all about sophistication and class. Think Upper East Side, Blair Waldorf, 3-piece suits, sweater vests, going out for tennis, riding your horse in the fields of Great Britain.
It’s so fall. I just want to be embraced in plaid and tweed and frills and prep.
Look for plaid, tweed, button downs, argyle, pearl, and fully go for it.
Cinched Suiting/Belted Blazers — One of my favorite things is a good suit. I don’t wear them often, because my workplace leans more casual, but cinched suiting was huge on the runways for Fall 2019.
This season is all about cinching suiting, specifically with belts. The trend definitely more the sophisticated suiting look. I saw it with skirts, pants. And I’m very much into this trend and think you can achieve it by belting blazers, which is a little more my style.
You can do belts a lot of different ways. We’re seeing big belts, leather wrap belts, western style belts, chain belts. You name, it’s trending when it comes to belting blazers.
I even saw overcoats that were belted. So if you’re in a cooler climate, like me, that’s fun for chilly weather, too.
